HOMELESSNESS

GROWN CHILDREN STILL LIVING AT HOME?

Young Australians are living at home longer, some until they are well into their 30’s - and many rent free!

What if charging your adult kids board could also teach them about making a difference? Through Board for a Cause®, you can support young people at risk of homelessness by donating together as a family.

This new regular giving initiative invites parents to collect board payments (or a portion of) as a donation to Kids Under Cover, to help disadvantaged young people by providing them with stable accommodation.

WHY SUPPORT
BOARD FOR A CAUSE®?

Board for a Cause® is a simple, easy way to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people, who may not have the same opportunities as their more fortunate counterparts.

Not everyone is born into a stable family environment. Many of the young people supported by Kids Under Cover are dealing with trauma and grief, family homes are often overcrowded and mental health issues can really affect relationships within the home. When it comes to youth homelessness we believe prevention is better than cure.

A commitment to a regular monthly donation will go a long way in helping us in our fight for a community where no young person is homeless.

MORE ABOUT
OUR WORK

For a young person at risk of homelessness, a Kids Under Cover studio can be life-changing.

Sometimes the pressures of an overcrowded home coupled with the burden of mental health issues, trauma or grief, mean that many disadvantaged young people believe they are better off living away from home permanently. They feel like they have no choice but to leave.

Kids Under Cover provides studio accommodation and scholarships for vulnerable young people, between 12 and 25, who are either already homeless or at risk of homelessness. The studios are placed in the backyard of a carer or family home, providing secure and stable accommodation. Coupled with a scholarship this support ensures they have a real shot at a brighter future.
